The Wife of the Kebbi State Governor and Founder/CEO of NANAS Foundation, Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris, on Tuesday graduated and empowered 800 youths and women in Yauri Local Government Area with vocational skills and start-up materials to promote self-reliance.

The ceremony was held at the palace of the Emir of Yauri, His Royal Highness, Dr. Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Nafisa expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of the one-month training programme.

"I give thanks to Almighty Allah for the opportunity to witness the graduation and empowerment of 800 youths and women who completed skills training in Yauri. The beneficiaries were selected from all 10 political wards of the local government," she said.

She commended the people of Yauri for their hospitality.  "Let me acknowledge the support we receive from our husband and his team whenever we visit Yauri. The people of Yauri have always given us a warm reception," she said.

Dr. Nafisa urged the beneficiaries to maximize the opportunity given to them.  "I urge you to apply the skills you have learned and make judicious use of the start-up packs so that you can earn a living and meet your daily needs," she said.

She also appreciated key stakeholders present at the event. "I appreciate the SSG, the Commissioner for Mining, stakeholders of Yauri Local Government, my NANAS Foundation team and my entourage for ensuring the success of this programme," she said.

The Governor’s wife further acknowledged the role of the traditional institution.  "I also appreciate my father, the Emir of Yauri, for all the support and contributions he has made toward the achievements of the present administration and toward today’s programme," she said.

She called on residents to support the APC in the next general elections.  "To the entire people of Yauri, we can only pray to Allah to reward you abundantly for all you have done for the Governor and his family. The 2027 general election is approaching. I appeal to you to come out en masse and vote for Governor Nasir Idris and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term so that they can emerge victorious," she said.

The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, said the empowerment was a reflection of the commitment of both federal and state governments to the development of Yauri. "President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Nasir Idris have brought remarkable progress to Yauri," Tafida said.

He recalled the security intervention in the area.   "A few months ago, Yauri was confronted with serious insecurity. Because of the governor’s concern and love for the people, he met with Mr. President, who immediately approved the deployment of troops and Mopol to the area," he said.

The SSG also highlighted infrastructure development.  "Yauri is among the local government areas in Kebbi State that will benefit from the proposed superhighway project linking Kebbi to Lagos. And today, we are witnessing the graduation and empowerment of 800 youths and women with start-up packs across the 10 wards of Yauri LGA," he said.

He urged residents to reciprocate the gesture at the polls. "With all these achievements, I urge the people of Yauri to vote for APC from top to bottom. APC Sak! APC SAK!! APC SAK!!!" he said.
He also commended the Emir of Yauri for his cooperation and support.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of Yauri Local Government Council, Hon. Abubakar Shuaibu, described the event as a landmark achievement for the people of Yauri.
"Today is one of the happiest days for us as we witness the graduation and empowerment of 800 youths and women trained in five different skills under the NANAS Foundation, an initiative of the wife of Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, with support from the Kebbi State Government," he said.

He recalled a similar intervention by the Governor’s wife. "We must acknowledge this gesture. About two months ago, Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris also provided cash grants and skills training for married women in Yauri. We are deeply grateful," he said.
The chairman praised the Idris administration for its impact. "We must admit that the administration of Governor Nasir Idris has recorded massive achievements in Yauri in the areas of education, security, empowerment and welfare, compared to previous administrations," he said.

He appealed to the people ahead of 2027. "We have nothing to offer in return except prayers for the governor’s victory for a second term. I appeal to the people of Yauri and its environs to come out en masse in the 2027 general elections and vote massively for him," he said.

Speaking to the beneficiaries, he warned against diversion of the materials. "I urge you to make judicious use of the start-up packs given to you. These items are meant to make you independent and enable you to earn a daily income. Do not sell or divert them. Use them to become self-reliant and, in the future, assist your relatives," he said.

He also appreciated the Emir of Yauri. "I must appreciate the Emir of Yauri, Dr. Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi, for his continuous support and contributions to the achievements recorded in Yauri. Without him, this would not have been possible," he said.

The Coordinator of NANAS Foundation, Alhaji Aminudeen Attahiru Nasarawa, described the empowerment as a major boost for youths and women in Yauri.
"What we are witnessing here in Yauri Local Government will also be replicated in Birnin Kebbi, Gwandu and other local government areas," he said.
He disclosed that the 800 beneficiaries underwent one month of intensive training in different trades.

"The trainees performed exceptionally well. In fact, they showcased their talents during the training period," he said.
He expressed appreciation to stakeholders in Yauri.
"I sincerely appreciate the support we received in Yauri, particularly from the Emir of Yauri, Dr. Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi, who consistently provided guidance and encouragement for the success of the programme," he said.
"I also appreciate my boss and founder of NANAS Foundation, Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, wife of the Kebbi State Governor, for her vision and commitment," he added.

The empowerment is part of NANAS Foundation’s flagship skills acquisition scheme aimed at reducing unemployment and poverty. A total of 800 beneficiaries drawn from the 10 political wards of Yauri LGA received training in five vocational areas. The breakdown shows that 200 beneficiaries received tailoring equipment, 200 received makeup kits, 150 got cosmetology materials, another 150 received items for shoemaking and bag making, while 100 beneficiaries got catering equipment.

The programme was implemented with support from the Kebbi State Government under Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu.
The NANAS Foundation said the initiative is designed to equip youths and women with marketable skills that will provide them with sustainable livelihoods.
