The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kebbi State has lifted the suspension of its State Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru, and reinstated him after three months.

The decision was announced on Thursday by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Isah Abubakar Assalafi, during a press conference at the APC State Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi. Assalafi recalled that the State Working Committee, SWC, had at its meeting on June 20, 2026, adopted Resolution No. KSWC/010/2026, suspending Kana-Zuru from office. He said the SWC, after reviewing subsequent developments surrounding the suspension, resolved to reverse its earlier decision.

According to him, the resolution adopted at the SWC meeting held on October 1, 2026, at the party secretariat in Birnin Kebbi stated, "That the suspension of Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana from the office of State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Kebbi State, pursuant to Resolution No. KSWC/010/2026 dated 20th June 2026, is hereby revoked with immediate effect."

Consequently, the party declared Kana-Zuru fully reinstated as State Chairman with immediate resumption of all powers, duties and responsibilities attached to the office.
Assalafi said the resolution also terminated the interim arrangement under which the Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mudi Augie, had been acting as State Chairman. "Accordingly, Alhaji Adamu Mudi Augie shall cease to act as Acting State Chairman and shall resume his substantive office as Deputy State Chairman," he said.

He added that all official records, documents, correspondence and other matters relating to the office of State Chairman are to be handed over to Kana-Zuru without delay. Assalafi disclosed that the SWC had directed the State Secretary to formally communicate the resolution to the relevant organs of the party, including the National Headquarters, for information and necessary action in line with the APC Constitution.

He stressed that the resolution takes effect immediately upon adoption by the State Working Committee. "The decision reflects the authority of the duly constituted organs of the party to review its decisions in accordance with the party's Constitution and established procedures," Assalafi said.

He urged all party organs, officials, members and stakeholders to recognise and respect the resolution as Kana-Zuru resumes his constitutional responsibilities as State Chairman. The resolution was adopted at the SWC meeting held on October 1, 2026, at the APC State Secretariat, Birnin Kebbi.
