KBTV To Mark 30 Years With Anniversary Celebration In August

The management of Kebbi State Television Services, KBTV, has set August 2, 2026, as the proposed date to celebrate three decades of broadcasting in the state.
General Manager of the station, Alhaji Sahabi Yusuf Bunza, announced the plan during an advocacy visit by the Kebbi State Governor’s Media Aides Team to the station in Birnin Kebbi.
The team was led by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK.
Bunza said the 30th anniversary would be used to showcase the station’s milestones and its role in public enlightenment over the years.
He applauded the Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris administration for its consistent support to state-owned media outfits, noting that the backing had helped improve service delivery.
“We are ready to partner with the Kebbi State Government, especially in the areas of programme production and presentation, and in other areas of collaboration, to improve the quality and reach of our services,” Bunza said.
The KBTV boss also appealed for more government intervention to boost the station’s operations.
He requested additional staff, utility vehicles, modern broadcasting equipment, and assistance to renew the station’s license with the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC.
“These supports will strengthen our capacity to serve both urban and rural audiences more effectively and promptly,” he added.
Responding, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, said the visit was aimed at deepening synergy with media organisations in projecting the achievements of the current government.
He explained that the administration of Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris has recorded major progress in key sectors.
“The purpose of this engagement is to build stronger collaboration with our media partners to communicate the programmes and successes of this administration to the people in clear terms,” Ahmed BK said.
He urged media practitioners not to be swayed by what he described as misinformation from opposition elements.
“The Governor has delivered on about 90 per cent of his campaign promises,” the commissioner stated.  “Look at the streetlights across major towns, ongoing road projects, renovation of old schools and hospitals, and the construction of new schools and health centres across the state.”
Ahmed BK listed infrastructure, health, agriculture, education and humanitarian interventions as areas where the government has made significant impact.
Members of the delegation on the visit included the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki; Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment and Orientation, Alhaji Ibrahim A. Jombali; Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris; Special Adviser on Strategic Communication, and Special Adviser on New Media, Alhaji Aliyu Bandado Argungu.
The anniversary activities, according to the station, are expected to highlight KBTV’s contributions to information dissemination, cultural promotion and community development in Kebbi over the last 30 years.
