Dabai Chiefdom Hails Gov Idris Over Zuru Mobile Police Squadron Project

By Umar Faruk
ZURU - The decision of Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, to establish a Mobile Police Squadron Barracks in Zuru has been described as a landmark move that will consolidate peace and stability in Zuru Emirate and its environs.
The commendation was given by the Chief of Dabai Chiefdom, Alhaji Suleiman Mikailu Sami, during a courtesy visit by the Kebbi State Governor’s media team to his palace in Dabai on Friday.
Alhaji Sami said the siting of the barracks was timely and strategic, noting that it would expand the reach and response capacity of security operatives in the area.
“The establishment of the Mobile Police Squadron in Zuru will go a long way in strengthening security in our emirate and adjoining communities,” the traditional ruler stated. “We are already seeing the positive impact of government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.”
He disclosed that he served on the committee tasked with identifying land for the project. According to him, the assignment was completed, affected landowners have been compensated, and work on the facility has commenced.
“As a member of the committee, I can confirm that the process was transparent. Compensation has been paid and construction is ongoing,” he said.
The Chief recalled that insecurity previously plagued communities in the emirate, with frequent bandit attacks leading to loss of lives and property. He, however, said the situation had improved significantly under the present administration.
“Before now, our people lived in fear. But with the support Governor Idris has given to security agencies and the deployment of personnel to vulnerable areas, there is now noticeable peace and confidence among residents,” he added.
Beyond security, Alhaji Sami praised the Governor’s interventions in agriculture, particularly the continuous free distribution of fertilisers and farm inputs to farmers across the state.
“Farming is the mainstay of our people in Dabai and the entire Zuru axis. The Governor’s support has boosted food production and improved the livelihood of rural dwellers,” he said.
“This is not the first time. For the past three years, the state government has flagged off fertiliser distribution in every local government. The Governor has consistently said the fertilisers are free, and till today they are still being given free, together with machines for dry-season farming,” he explained.
He also applauded the provision of modern farming equipment for both wet and dry-season cultivation, describing it as a major push to increase agricultural output in Kebbi.
On infrastructure, the traditional ruler noted that road projects linking Zuru to other parts of the state have eased movement, stimulated commerce and enhanced socio-economic activities.
He further appreciated the rehabilitation of the Dabai traditional cemetery and other cultural preservation efforts by the government.
“We are grateful for the Governor’s sense of fairness and inclusiveness. He has carried all parts of Kebbi along in his development agenda,” Alhaji Sami said.
He prayed that Allah would continue to guide and grant Governor Idris success in delivering more democratic dividends to the people.
Speaking during the visit, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, who led the Governor’s media team, said the administration remained committed to partnering with traditional institutions to drive development.
Members of the delegation included the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Yahaya Sarki; Special Adviser on Communications Strategy, Alhaji Abdullahi Idris Zuru; Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment, Alhaji Ibrahim A. Jombali; Special Adviser on New Media, Alhaji Aliyu Bandado; and Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Idris.
