COAS: Training Remains Key As NMS Zaria Passes Out 68th Set

ZARIA - The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaibu, has said that consistent training and retraining of troops is critical to sustaining a professional, disciplined, and mission-ready Nigerian Army.
The COAS made the assertion in a speech delivered by the Commander, Infantry Corps, Major General G.M. Mutkut, during the 68th Passing Out Parade of the Nigerian Military School, Zaria, held on Saturday.
Describing the ceremony, General Shuaibu said it marked the end of six years of intensive academic and military instruction. “Today marks the successful completion of six years of rigorous academic and military training for these cadets. They are now equipped with the knowledge, discipline, leadership skills and patriotism needed for national service,” he stated.
He added that the new graduands will boost the Army’s manpower drive. “These young soldiers will make a significant contribution to the Federal Government’s plan to expand the force structure of the Nigerian Army. This will in turn enhance our operational capacity to tackle the nation’s security challenges,” the Army Chief said.
General Shuaibu charged the graduands to uphold military ethics at all times. “I urge you to remain steadfast in duty, discipline, integrity and professionalism. You must conduct yourselves within the framework of human rights, rules of engagement and standard operating procedures,” he told the cadets.
He also issued a stern warning on the use of social media. “I caution you against unauthorized use of social media. Leaking operational information, military activities, or sensitive locations is a serious violation of military regulations,” he warned.
The COAS reiterated the Army’s commitment to improving the welfare of personnel. “The Nigerian Army remains committed to the welfare and career progression of our personnel. This includes improved barracks accommodation, better facilities, and sponsorship for further education in recognized institutions,” General Shuaibu said.
He praised the school authorities and parents for their support. “I commend the Commandant, instructors and staff of the Nigerian Military School for their dedication in molding these cadets. I also appreciate the parents and guardians for their support and sacrifice,” he said.
General Shuaibu further lauded the Federal Government for its backing of the service. “I acknowledge President Bola Tinubu’s sustained support to the operational, training and administrative requirements of the Nigerian Army,” he added.
The 68th set of cadets graduated after completing six years of combined secondary and military training at the Nigerian Military School, Zaria.
